Send money to someone by username, or pay a small merchant by scanning a QR code. No card, no account number, no cash.
How it works
A user tops up their wallet from their own bank account.
Payments go to a @username or a scanned code — not to a 10-digit account number and a branch code typed from memory.
A small trader displays a static QR code. The customer scans it, enters an amount, and confirms. The trader needs a phone, not a card machine.
Money moves back out to a bank account whenever the user wants it there.
Who it's for
People who send small amounts often — to family, to friends, splitting a bill — and who feel every flat fee when they do.
Spaza shops, stalls, salons, tradespeople. Businesses for which a card terminal has never made commercial sense.
Where cash still wins because the digital alternative is slower, more expensive, or simply harder to explain.
Where we are
The consumer app is built and working as a prototype — home, send, scan, receive, wallet and transaction screens all exist and run on a device. The screen shown above is a faithful rendering of it.
What we do not yet have is the infrastructure underneath it. We are preparing a limited pilot and are in the process of selecting a banking and payments partner to run it on.
We have no users in production, no funds under management, and no regulatory approvals to point at. That is precisely why we're making enquiries rather than announcements.
For banks & payment partners
We're a consumer product looking for the rails to sit on. Concretely, we would like to talk about:
Loolio Pay does not lend, does not extend credit, and does not hold customer funds itself. We are seeking a regulated banking or payments partner to provide the underlying wallet and funds infrastructure.
If you're reviewing an enquiry from us, this is the whole business. Happy to walk through the prototype on a call.
